Frequently Asked Questions

Q. My Product Manager sent me a Vendor Form and all I see is a blank white sheet. What happened?

A. The first screen in the form prompts you to "enable/disable macros"; please click "enable." If you were not initially prompted to "enable/disable macros," then you will need to set an option based on your version of Microsoft Excel.

For users of Microsoft Excel 97

  • Open a new Excel Workbook
  • Go to Tools and click Options
  • Under the General tab, click the Macro Virus Protection option
  • Close out and go back; try and open the attachment
For users of Microsoft Excel 98
  • Open a new Excel Workbook
  • Go to Tools and click Options
  • Under the Security tab, change the Macro Protection to Medium ("Prompt for unassigned Macros")
  • Close out, and go back; try and open the attachment
For users of Microsoft Excel 2000
  • Go to Tools
  • Click on Macro
  • Click on Security
  • Change level to Medium

For users of Microsoft Excel 2007
  • Where it says: ‘Security Warning Macros have been disabled’ Select> Options…
  • When message box opens: Select> Enable this content
  • Select> OK

For users of Microsoft Office XP
  • Go to Tools and click Options
  • Go to Security tab
  • Click on Macro Security
  • Change level to medium
Q. I had almost completed the process of entering my promotion online when the screen flashed three pages that appeared to be opening simultaneously; then the system locked up. This occurred right after I clicked on "Agree to Send to Tech Data." What happened?

A. It appears as though you were trying to launch the Excel form through your browser instead of downloading it to your system. To avoid this happening in the future, right-click on the link to "Download the Ship & Debit form" and select "Save Target As…." Do not double-click on the option or click Open in your browser.

TIPS

To ensure successful receipt of your promotion, please maintain the original naming convention. Changing the name of the file will cause problems when it's imported into the system.
When you've completed your promotion, e-mail it to SHIPDEBITPROMO@techdata.com

Complete only one promotional request per e-mail. Including more than one request per e-mail will cause problems with the import process.

In the event you need to edit your data, please use only the form interface. Data in the spreadsheet is uniquely formatted for the import process; editing data in the spreadsheet will result in an unsuccessful import.
