CLEARWATER, FL (October 19, 2000) - Tech Data Corporation has named Joseph A. Osbourn, a 27-year information technology veteran, to the position of executive vice president and worldwide chief information officer. Osbourn's experience over the past two decades includes senior management posts at Kmart Corporation, Walt Disney World and Price Waterhouse.

Osbourn will be responsible for Tech Data's worldwide information technology systems, central to the company's strategic vision of becoming the leading provider of IT products and logistics services in the e-commerce age. "Joe possesses extensive experience in primary system upgrades on an enterprise level," said Néstor Cano, president of worldwide operations, Tech Data. "He will lead our global information technology strategy and continue the company's evolution from a traditional brick-and-mortar business to a digital supply chain forerunner."

While at Kmart, Osbourn was responsible for all system development and operations including an aggressive global technology improvement plan. As the senior executive in charge of all business systems for Walt Disney World, Osbourn led planning, design, development and implementation of all application systems. He was a partner in the management consulting services group at Price Waterhouse. Osbourn holds a master's in business administration from Memphis State University and a bachelor's degree in physics from the University of Louisville. He is a former member of the Educational Productivity Committee for Orange County (Florida) Public Schools and served on the board of advisors for Inroads, Inc., an organization dedicated to providing internship opportunities for minority college students.
